Linking a Pioneer Monitor to a Device Service

Before you Begin

If you have not read Getting Started for the Pioneer Compactor and Baler Monitor, please take a moment to do so and then return to this article.

To proceed you should ensure:

  1. You are able to navigate to the Compactor Monitors page in Discovery
  2. There is at least one Unassigned Compactor Monitor (see the first row in the example screenshot where Monitor ID = 108622)

Identifying the Monitor, Device Service, and Monitored Service

It is important to conceptualize the difference between a Device Service, Monitored Service, and the Pioneer Compactor and Baler Monitor hardware (often referred to as a Compactor Monitor in the system).

  • Device Service: A unique service level created via the Client Contracting/LSA process that represents installed hardware at a location. Example: DSL-54321
    • Note: These are different than the Monitor because they may represent a device outside Discovery that is not a Compactor or Baler monitor, but you may still need to generate Client Invoice Line Items for such a device
  • Monitored Service: A unique service level created via the Client Contracting/LSA process that represents a service performed by a Vendor. These are typically Rolloff type services and are linked to a Vendor Contract and/or Vendor Account. Example: SSL-12345
  • Pioneer Monitor: Discovery's representation of the physical hardware that is installed on equipment for data collection. This has a unique serial number, SIM card, and other identification for cellular communication. Example: Monitor ID: 101776

To find the services you are trying to Attach a Monitor to, you can search by the Location Name of the site upon which the monitor is being used in the universal search bar. Then navigate a list of that site's Service Levels, and denote the unique Service IDs for the next step.

If you are missing the Device service or Monitored service, you will need to create the Service via a new Client Contract or Client Contract Amendment.

Attaching a Pioneer Monitor to a Device Service and Identifying the Monitored Service

  1. Select "Attach" for the Monitor you would like to attach to a Device Service and identify a Monitored Service.
  2. Enter the Device Service ID (ex: DSL-54321) and Monitored Service ID (ex: SSL-12345).
  3. Select "Attach Services"

Discovery has now linked the Pioneer Monitor to the Device Service, and is aware of the Service you are trying to Monitor (typically a waste/recycling Rolloff Compactor.=).
