How do I Flag a Vendor Invoice for Investigation?

Overview

When you're stuck on a vendor invoice and aren't sure how to move it forward, you can flag it as Under Investigation. This signals to your team that the invoice needs attention and prevents others from unknowingly working on it at the same time.

Flagging an Invoice

  1. Open the vendor invoice detail page.
  2. Click the Flag for Investigation button near the top of the page.

  1. A banner will appear on the invoice confirming it's been flagged, along with your name as the person who flagged it.

The invoice's status in the approval workflow is not affected by this flag — it's purely a visibility signal.

Note: The Investigation toggle is not available on invoices that have already been Approved.

Removing the Flag

If the issue has been resolved or the flag was set in error:

  1. Open the flagged invoice.
  2. Click the Clear Investigation button again to toggle it off.
  3. The banner will disappear and the invoice is no longer marked for investigation.

Any user can flag or unflag an invoice.

Finding Flagged Invoices

On the Vendor Invoices list page, invoices under investigation display a badge so they stand out at a glance.

To see only flagged invoices, use the Only Under Investigation filter on the list page.

This makes it easy for anyone to quickly find and act on invoices that need attention.
