How Do I Apply a Bulk Pricing Change?

Discovery's Bulk Pricing Change tool lets you update rates across multiple services at once — without any CSV exports or file editing. Everything is done directly in Discovery using filters, formulas, and a guided confirmation flow.

When changes are applied, Discovery records a Pricing Change timeline event on each affected service, giving you a full audit trail. You also have the option to roll back the entire update within 3 days if needed.

How to Perform a Bulk Pricing Change

  1. Click your username in the lower left corner, then select Settings
  2. In the left menu, click Bulk Imports
  3. Click Create
  4. Select Bulk Pricing Change

Step 1: Filter Your Services

Use the available filters to narrow down which services you want to update:

  • Vendor
  • Location
  • Client
  • Service Type
  • Status

Only services matching your filter criteria will be shown for editing.

Step 2: Enter Change Details

Once your services are filtered, provide the following:

  • Effective Date — The date the new rates take effect
  • Reason — Select one of the following:
    • Annual Price Increase
    • Savings
    • Other

Step 3: Enter New Rates

For each service, enter the new base rate. You have three options:

  • Type the new rate manually for individual services
  • Enter a formula to calculate the new rate based on an existing rate value (see below)
  • Fill All — Applies the rate or formula from the first row to every filtered service with the same charge type at once

Using Formulas

Formulas follow standard spreadsheet syntax and reference the existing rate columns in the grid. For example:

  • =E1*1.05     — Increases the vendor base rate by 5%
  • =G1*1.15     — Increases the client base rate by 15%

To apply a formula across all filtered services, enter it in the first row and then click Fill All. Every service with a value in the referenced column will be updated according to that formula.

Step 4: Review and Confirm

  1. Click Preview Changes to review all the rate updates before committing
  2. If everything looks correct, click the green Confirm button
  3. Click Apply Changes to finalize the update

Discovery will apply the changes and record a Pricing Change timeline event on each affected service.

Downloading a Summary

After a bulk pricing change is successfully applied, you can download a CSV summary of all the changes from the Bulk Imports page under Settings.

Timeline Events

Each successfully updated service receives a Pricing Change event in its service history. Like any other timeline event, it can be edited or deleted directly from the service history.

Rolling Back a Bulk Pricing Change

You can roll back a bulk pricing change within 3 days of it being applied. After 3 days, the Rollback Changes option is no longer available.

To roll back:

  1. On the Bulk Imports page, find the bulk pricing change you want to reverse
  2. Click the red Rollback Changes button on the right side
  3. Enter a reason for the rollback in the modal that appears
  4. Click Confirm Rollback

Discovery will restore each affected service to its pricing values from before the bulk update was applied. The bulk import's status will change from Applied to Rolled Back.

What to expect before confirming

The confirmation modal will warn you if any of the following are true:

  • Services were modified after the bulk update — The rollback will still proceed, but it will restore those services to their pre-bulk-import values, which may overwrite any changes made since.
  • Some services have been terminated — Terminated services are skipped and will not be rolled back.
  • Some changes were future-dated — If an effective date was set in the future and the change hasn't taken effect yet, rolling back will cancel those pending scheduled changes.

Limitations

  • A bulk pricing change can only be rolled back once
  • Rollback is not available after 3 days from the time the bulk update was applied
