Bulk Importing Incidents
Discovery's Bulk Import option enables the rapid creation of multiple Incidents, provided all necessary incident data is organized into an Import template file*. All Import template files are included in a single downloadable file available for download on the Bulk Imports page under Settings.
Import Template Fields
The provided Import template file (clients.csv) needs to retain all fields (columns), in no particular order, even if the fields are not required.
The following fields are required to have data for each Incident record:
- filed_by_first_name
- filed_by_last_name
- filed_by_email | Must be a valid email address.
- filed_by_user_type | Must be one of the following:
- Client
- Employee
- location_id | Generated by Discovery upon Location creation**.
- incident_type | Must be a valid incident type.
- source | Must be one of the following:
- Internal - Company
- Mobile - Customer Service App
- Phone
- Sensor
- Text Message
- Vendor - Email
- Vendor - Phone
- Web
- Web - Client Portal
- incident_reason | Must be a valid incident reason.
- priority | Must be one of the following:
- High
- Medium
- Low
The following items are optional and do not require data for each record.
- assigned_to_first_name | Required if assigned_to_last_name is present.
- assigned_to_last_name | Required if assigned_to_first_name is present.
- client_contact_id | Generated upon Client Contact creation**.
- service_id | Generated upon Client Contact creation**.
- reported_at | Must follow date and time format:
YYYY-MM-DD h:m
- occurred_at | Must follow date and time format:
YYYY-MM-DD h:m
- due_on | Must follow date format:
YYYY-MM-DD
- money_saved | Must be an integer.
- minutes_saved | Must be an integer.
- hauler_case_number | Maximum 255 characters.
- external_urls
- checklist_items | Use a comma to separate checklist items.
- first_comment
- external_reference_id | Maximum 255 characters.
*Import file name and its column headers cannot be edited.
**When any ID field is required (_id), this indicates an ID that is generated and assigned by Discovery to a unique entity. You'll need to retrieve these ID's from Discovery. The general method to retrieve ID's in bulk is through a Custom Report.
