Vendor Service Fees

What is a Vendor Service Fee?

In Discovery, Vendor Service Fees allow for the creation of a more fine-grained fee structure (at the service level) than what would be possible using Vendor Contract Fees alone.

Unlike Vendor Contract Fees, Vendor Service Fees are only applied to the specific service they're defined for.

Anatomy of a Vendor Service Fee

Vendor Service Fees are identical to Vendor Contract Fees except for one small difference: They require a specific service that they'll be applied to.

Examples

Let's assume you've already created a Vendor Contract and on that contract, you define a Fuel Cap Vendor Contract Fee at 15%.  Without a Vendor Service Fee, this restriction will be applied to every service in the Vendor Contract (during audit). Now let's assume that one of the services defined on your contract should be capped at 12% on Fuel (instead of the 15% that all other services get capped at). In order to achieve this you can add a Vendor Service Fee to override the fuel cap for that service only. You may also use this to relax Vendor Contract Fee restrictions too!

Another example: Assuming the same Vendor Contract from the previous example, let's pretend that instead of further restricting the fuel fees for a specific service (as we did above) we instead wish to open them to allow ANY percentage of the service charge to be billed.  We can easily accomplish this with a Vendor Service Fee for the service (as we did above,) however this time we'll set the restriction to be 'Uncapped'.

Restrictions

When creating a Vendor Service Fee, you will need to select a fee restriction.

Uncapped - This fee has no maximum amount.

Not Allowed - The vendor is not permitted to charge this fee.

$per unit - The vendor is allowed to charge up to a maximum amount per unit.

$ per occurrence - The vendor is allowed to charge up to a maximum amount per occurrence of the fee-trigger event.

% of service charges - The vendor is allowed to charge up to a maximum percentage of the service charge.
